Gauley Mountain Area, WV This route begins at Elk River Touring Center. A must for any mountain bikers epic adventure weekend trip! The course was riden counter clockwise. The first challenge is Props Run climb. This traverse ascends 8 miles with a constant grade. Also, this trail doubles as a creek when it rains. And it rains alot in WV. Once at the top, left on to the fireroad and follow to the Gauley Mtn trail. Right on this trail and get out your technical skills. Rocky, mucky, tricky are some of the nice words to use. BUT you must ride this to get to the Scenic Highway and then on to Tea Crk Mtn Trail and Banock Shoals. This ride was a out & back due to daylight issues. When back at the fireroad turn right and hold on to your brake levers! 5 miles of blistering crazy fireroad descending! Left back onto 219 north and a couple miles you are back at Elk River Touring Center!
