1. When did CAMBC start?
Summer 2003.
2. Who were the founding members and their reason for starting
CAMBC?
Mike Smoot, Matthew Wikswo, Will Sanford, Rich Shelley, Sue George.
To build up a local mountain bike community to ride, do local trail work,
and handle advocacy issues.
3. How is your group organized?
We have a board. And regular club meetings.
4. How many members do you have?
60+
5. What kind of events do you sponsor?
-Wild Ride - Annual Ride to celebrate mountain bike access at Sherando
Lake
-Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day - Annual ride to bring kids to mountain
biking
-Regular club group rides for all - members, but also including women,
beginners, and night riders - locally and in the George Washington Natl
Forest.
-Help UVA Mountain Bike Club run the annual O'Hill Meltdown Mountain bike
race.
6. Has your group built trails, run races, other contributions?
Yes, we maintain the trails at Walnut Creek Park in Albemarle County and
in the George Washington National Forest.
7. What are your plans for the future?
Continue to grow our membership base. Increase local mountain bike access,
and support our members' needs.
