James River Park System
The James River Park System
This is the perfect example of what can be accomplished when dedicated people put their minds to something! Between 15-18 miles of trail have been created for outdoor enthuasists of all kinds by volunteers with a passion for the outdoors. Criticized and acclaimed, what better way to describe success, these trails have had input from the following groups: MORE, Friends of Forest Hill, JROC, and the City of Richmond. The terrain is located in downtown Richmond along the North and South side of the James River. There is no other city that has outdoors as plush as this within city limits! That is not a boast but the truth. Runners, bikers and hikers, alike, use these trails for escaping what is right beside them. Its truely amazing; Class V rapids right next door to 25 story high rises.
